Winter Soap Club
This season’s soap club is extra special because the Castile Soap has been in the works since this time last year.  Yep, you read that right; I made it in January 2020.  It is 100% olive oil and because of that needs to cure (sit) for 12 months.  If you tried to use it any earlier it would feel a bit too slimy.  And who wants a slimy soap?  Snow Flurries (wish we actually had some) is my standard formula but with a new design.  I used what is called a drop swirl technique and I love how it makes each bar so unique.  Finally, the exclusive item this time is a Lavender Clay Mask with Argon oil.  This particular face mask is for dryer skin.  Winter skin.  There are extra bars of the Castile Soap and Snow Flurries on the website.  If you missed out on the winter soap club, make sure to sign up for spring.  It is going to be a great box!

Are you ready for Valentine’s Day?  If not, I can certainly help!  Are you a bath bomb lover?  Just for this special day, I have created a heart shaped bath bomb with a cocoa butter drizzle and a whipped frosting (the stuff that makes the big bubbles) all topped with soap confetti.  I also have gift boxes available on the website.  I am super excited to be adding a Bath Truffle gift box to the store.  It contains 3 different scents, lavender, afternoon tea, and caramel and honey.  If you have never tried a truffle you are definitely missing out.  They are a luxury bath item that will leave your skin feeling smooth and silky and wonderfully hydrated.  For anyone interested, our Sparkling Sugar Scrub has been restocked.  Also keep your eyes open for some special soaps coming at the end of January.  And make sure you follow me on Facebook and Instagram.

What exactly is activated charcoal and why has it taken the cosmetic world by storm? Activated charcoal is wood, peat, coconut shells, or sawdust that has been heated to the point where nothing is left but the charcoal.  The high temperatures change its internal structure, reduce the size of its pores, and increase its surface area.  But why is it used in soap?   Activated charcoal draws out the oil and debris from the skin and helps with exfoliation. It traps toxins and chemicals and prevents their absorption.  The charcoal's porous texture has a negative electrical charge, which causes it to attract positively charged molecules, such as toxins. Another use of activated charcoal is that it acts as a natural way to color soap.  Leaving the soap anywhere between a light grey to a dark black depending on how much you use.

The April Soap club kit was so much fun to make!  As always, the kit included 2 soaps and a surprise 3rd item.

In each kit I like to have a "fancy" soap.  This past month that was Spring Flowers.  To create this soap I used a hanger swirl, a device that is so much fun to use because you never know what you are going to get.  It is called a hanger swirl because the device looks very much like an unwound hanger.

Now, let's talk about that grass.  I have never , until now, piped anything that wasn't on a cupcake and in the swirl pattern.  So I made a HUGE batch of soap frosting to practice with.  After getting just the right flick of the wrist, I proceeded to pipe the grass, but boy was I nervous.

The flower is made out of soap dough, a soap that is malleable so you can shape it before it hardens.

I also like to include an item that is all natural, meaning no fragrance oils or mica's.  For the scent I used essential oils and to obtain the color in my Rose Clay soap I use rose clay.  This soap is one of the first soaps I ever created.  A friend asked me to make something very gentle.  After what must have been months of research this is what I came up with.  I used goat milk in this bar which is super soothing and the rose clay is a very mild exfoliate.  This is one of my most popular bars and I couldn't wait to share it with all of my soap club members.  It is available in the shop when in stock.

In each kit there is an exclusive item.  For April that was a whipped aloe body butter.  It is divine!

Sign ups for the next kit are closed.  For those of you that signed up, you will receive your kit at the start of July and I am already working on it!  Once again I think I have some really fun items planned.  Sign ups for the October kit will take place starting in July and will run the entire month.    To make sure you don't miss out, sign up for my newsletter.

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!  Have a wonderful day!
